Should you buy one?

If you’ve got the funds and want a luxurious convertible, you absolutely should. It would be easy to criticise the Bentley for its astronomical price, but if you’re even considering one, money is unlikely to be an issue. If that’s the case, there are few more luxurious ways to enjoy motoring, made all the more special by being able to lower the roof on those rare sunny days.

The ability to customise with a range of colours and trims means you can really make it your own, but the whole vibe given by the car is sumptuous luxury that’s hard to compete with. Inside, the seats envelope you and keep you comfortable for hours on end, quality is sublime and it feels special every time you drive it.

Driving is a pleasure too. Both engines are extremely strong with ferocious performance in a straight line, but will settle down if you just want to cruise around quietly. Granted, it’ll cost an awful lot to run even if you drive sensibly, but it’s safe to say Bentley ownership is likely to be very pleasing indeed.

If you plan to use it for long journeys across the continent, be warned it’s not the most spacious – it’s really only a two-seater as those back seats are too small for adults and are better used as an extension of the compact boot.

If, however, you’re not convinced by the Continental GT Convertible, Bentley will sell you a Coupe model instead, or you can save a little bit of money and get a Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet.
