The Audi stand was dominated by the reveal of the all-new A3.
While the rest of the Audi range has been given a bit of an overhaul, the stalwart A3 was the last model to be updated.
With Audi looking to dominate the new car market, its new A3 will form a major part of the German brand’s plans.
Audi also premiered the new RS4 super-saloon.
Parkers Pick – A3
- What is it? Replacement for the rather tired-looking current car, which went on sale way back in 2003. Will bring the design in line with newer models like the new A6 and revised A4. In fact, you’ll probably struggle to tell which model it is from your rear-view mirror.
- Vital stats and facts: Will get three reworked engines from across the range including a 121bhp producing 1.4-litre TFSI, 1.8-litre TFSI making 178bhp and a 2.0-litre TDI with a power output of 141bhp.
- Why would you buy it? Well most people will buy it based purely on the badge. However, if you’re after a more premium small hatchback with excellent engines and sensible running costs it will fulfill all this.
- Why wouldn’t you? That ‘premium’ tag will come at a price. Base models may start at £19,000, but as you go up the trim levels they will rise quickly. Plus, once you tick a few extra option boxes the cost soon rockets.
- Prices and launch date: Orders open in spring with prices starting at £19,000. First deliveries are expected to begin in September.
