Parkers Pick – INVITATION

  • What is it? It’s a compact hatchback concept that will form the basis of a new production model due to be launched in the UK in 2013.
  • Vital stats and facts: Like all concepts it showcases a modern and spacious interior, but in a compact hatch. It’s of lightweight construction and features an advanced engine that reputedly offers excellent fuel economy and sub-100g/km CO2 emissions. State-of-the-art gizmos include Around View Monitor (AVM) which gives a bird’s eye view of car for easy parking, and the Nissan Safety Shield Technologies that uses cameras and proximity sensors to alert the driver to potential dangers.
  • Why would you buy it? When it eventually comes out at as a production model it’ll be frugal, spacious and economical.
  • Why wouldn’t you? There are other compact hatchbacks that are perfectly competent and offer sub-100g/km CO2 emissions.
  • Prices and launch date: Not sure about prices, but it should come to the UK in the second half of 2013.
