The INVITATION Concept proved the major attraction at Nissan’s stand but the impressive Juke NISMO played best supporting role on a stand full of future technologies.
There was also a concept named ‘Highcross’ and an electric concept called e-NV200.
Parkers Pick – INVITATION
- What is it? It’s a compact hatchback concept that will form the basis of a new production model due to be launched in the UK in 2013.
- Vital stats and facts: Like all concepts it showcases a modern and spacious interior, but in a compact hatch. It’s of lightweight construction and features an advanced engine that reputedly offers excellent fuel economy and sub-100g/km CO2 emissions. State-of-the-art gizmos include Around View Monitor (AVM) which gives a bird’s eye view of car for easy parking, and the Nissan Safety Shield Technologies that uses cameras and proximity sensors to alert the driver to potential dangers.
- Why would you buy it? When it eventually comes out at as a production model it’ll be frugal, spacious and economical.
- Why wouldn’t you? There are other compact hatchbacks that are perfectly competent and offer sub-100g/km CO2 emissions.
- Prices and launch date: Not sure about prices, but it should come to the UK in the second half of 2013.

Furthermore, Nissan showed the ‘Highcross’ concept, another modern crossover design that’ll influence the design of the next X-Trail when it arrives in 2013..
