Renault finally enters the 4x4 segment with a dedicated model, which is based on the Nissan X-Trail. The Koleos is a five-seater that comes in either front-wheel drive or four-wheel drive versions, which tells us that this vehicle is more about on-road driving refinement than any trans-global aspirations. Using Nissan's four-wheel drive system and Renault's diesel engines is a winning combination. The Koleos is one of the better cars in its class to drive, especially as Renault has not faffed around trying to make its 4x4 handle like a sports car. Instead, the Koleos majors on comfort and refinement to come up with a car that provides a stepping stone between Renault's cheaper small hatches and people carriers and the larger family car and full-size people carrier ranges.
