B-On Pelkan van (2024-on) dimensions, payload and specs

The B-On Pelkan is about the same size as plenty of its main rivals, but it makes more of the space it has to play with. Despite being much the same size as rivals from Ford, it offers more room in the back and a superior payload.

There are downsides, though, as the unusual side-door arrangement means that getting things in and out is trickier than it is in a rival with a standard sliding door.

Read on to learn more about the Pelkan’s loadspace, or to read more about how it drives then check out the main review.

B-ON Pelkan capacity & size

4 out of 5 4.0

The Pelkan is a similar size to many medium vans, and not the smallest models in their ranges either.

It’s worth noting that it is just over 2m tall, which could cause issues with urban car parks and height restrictions that are often fractionally lower than that point. It is very narrow, though, which will aid with squeezing into tighter spots.

B-On Pelkan exterior dimensions

  • Length: 5,457mm
  • Width including door mirrors: 1,850mm
  • Height: 2,047mm
  • Wheelbase: 3,380mm

The B-On Pelkan measures up with the medium vans of this world.

B-On Pelkan load area dimensions and capacity

There are only a few dimensions that have been released as things stand. We'll add to it as more emerge.

  • Maximum load length: 2,980mm
  • Width between the wheelarches: 1,290mm
  • Standard load volume: 7.2 cubic metres

B-ON Pelkan payload, weight & towing

4 out of 5 4.0

The Pelkan’s weights are its strong point in some senses. It has a remarkably low kerb weight of just 1,675kg for the smaller battery model and 1,725kg for the larger one.

Even with a comparatively light gross vehicle weight of 3,100kg, this leaves plenty of wriggle room for a fantastic payload.

Towing is a different matter, though…

B-On Pelkan payload

This is the B-On Pelkan’s absolute trump card. Its lightweight construction means that it offers a payload that is superior to anything else in the medium electric van class.

Because the two batteries are relatively similar in terms of their size, there isn’t too much difference between the payload that they offer. The 43kWh version has a maximum payload of 1,350kg while the 54kWh isn’t far behind at 1,300kg.

This is far in excess of the rivals in the class, which are usually hovering around the 1,000kg mark.

B-On Pelkan towing capacity

Unfortunately you will have to get everything you need to carry into the main loading bay of the van, as the Pelkan isn’t allowed to tow at all.
