The Citroen Relay comes in four gross vehicle weights (GVW):
- 3.0 tonnes / 3,000kg - labelled 30
- 3.3 tonnes / 3,300kg - labelled 33
- 3.5 tonnes / 3,500kg - labelled 35 or 35 Heavy, depending on spec
- 4.0 tonnes / 4,000kg - labelled 40 Heavy
Since GVW is the total allowed weight of the van and everything inside, these figures have a direct impact on payload.
Citroen Relay maximum payload:
Citroen Relay | GVW | Max payload |
L1H1 | 30 | 1,125kg |
L1H1 | 33 | 1,425kg |
L2H1 | 35 | 1,570kg |
L2H2 | 35 | 1,545kg |
L3H2 | 35 | 1,495kg |
L3H2 | 35 Heavy | 1,455kg |
L3H3 | 35 | 1,470kg |
L4H2 | 35 Heavy | 1,410kg |
L4H2 | 40 Heavy | 1,870kg |
L4H3 | 35 Heavy | 1,380kg |
L3H2 Crew Van | 35 | 1,315kg |
All figures correct at time of writing in November 2021. Maximum payload varies engine specification, fitted equipment and age of van. Check the weight plate for the specifics of your vehicle.
Heavy models have specially reinforced suspension designed to withstand the rigours of repeatedly high payloads. The 40 Heavy models also have twin rear wheels.
Citroen Relay towing capacity
All versions of the Citroen Relay will tow a 750kg unbraked trailer.
Braked towing capacity varies with engine and van size, with the standard range currently offering between 2,500kg at the lower end and 3,000kg on tougher versions.
