KGM Musso dimensions (2025-on)

The KGM Musso is unusual for a double-cab pickup truck in the UK, as there is a choice of lengths, with more than one loading bay to choose from. The standard length is available in all three of the trims but the longer model is restricted to the Saracen+ trim.

This wasn’t always the case, so if you are looking at a used SsangYong Musso then the longer model was in Rhino trim from 2020 to 2023.

There are some other impressive numbers in the Musso’s armoury as well, as it has strong payload and towing figures too.

The two lengths on offer make the KGM unique in the pickup sector in the UK – no other double-cab truck comes in more than one size.

However, it isn’t quite as simple as that, as it isn’t just a case of taking an average-length truck and adding a bit more loading bay. The standard-length Musso is shorter than its class rivals. It measures just 5.1m, which is less than the Isuzu D-Max and the Ford Ranger.

There are two lengths of KGM Musso to choose from.

It is also worth bearing in mind that you can only get the Musso as a double cab - rivals are offered with single-cab or extended cab options too.

It follows that the KGM Musso has a marginally smaller loading bay than its rivals, as all of the lost length comes from the rear of the vehicle. This means that the standard-length version is slightly less practical than the rest of the competition.

It does make up for it slightly by offering a marginally deeper loading bay - 59mm deeper than the Ford Ranger for example - but whether this is of more use to you will be down to personal preferences. More length is generally of greater use.

The longer Saracen+, however, is the longest double-cab truck in terms of loading bay in the class, so if having five proper seats and as much capacity as possible is your dream scenario then we can see how the Musso might fit in.

KGM Musso payload, weight & towing

One of the Musso’s claims to great practicality is its train weight – the amount that the vehicle and an attached trailer can weigh altogether. The good news for those who are on the hunt for practicality above all is that the Saracen+ is the model that boasts the best figures in all areas. It has the highest payload at 1,205kg, the heaviest towing limit at 3,500kg and the biggest train weight at 6,900kg.

To be fair to it, the standard length has a decent payload at 1,095kg for the auto and 1,105kg for the manual.

As great as those train weights sound, beware of the entry-level manual gearbox – it can’t tow as much as the automatic, with a 3,200kg braked towing limit.
