Vauxhall Vivaro Electric dimensions (2020-on)
Want to know how much payload the Vauxall Vivaro Electric van can carry? Or the size of the Vauxhall Vivaro Electric's load area? Then you've come to the right place.
Need more info about the driving experience, running costs, charging time or driving range (which is very good, by the way)? Then check out our main Vivaro Electric review page.
As with the standard diesel Vivaro, the Vivaro Electric van comes in choice of two body lengths but only a single roof height, as it's designed to be compact enough to fit into city centre car parks.
The batteries that power the electric motor are mounted under the load floor, so the load area is identical to diesel models as well. And, like all Vivaros, the electric version is available with a load-through bulkhead for swallowing longer items, which Vauxhall calls FlexCargo.
Vauxhall Vivaro Electric exterior dimensions
Vauxhall calls the two lengths of Vivaro Electric L1 and L2 - which is logical enough - while the single roof height is referred to as H1. The wheelbase is identical on both versions, though some will no doubt still referred to them as SWB (short-wheelbase) and LWB (long-wheelbase) to differentiate them.
These are the main exterior dimensions:
Vauxhall Vivaro Electric van | L1 | L2 |
Exterior length (mm) | 4,959 | 5,309 |
Exterior height (mm) | 1,905-1,940 | 1,935 |
Exterior width with door mirrors (mm) | 2,204 | 2,204 |
Exterior width without door mirrors (mm) | 1,920 | 1,920 |
Wheelbase (mm) | 3,275 | 3,275 |
Front overhang (mm) | 881 | 881 |
Rear overhang (mm) | 803 | 1,153 |
Ground clearance (mm) | 150 | 150 |
Vauxhall Vivaro Electric load space dimensions
No changes here for the electric Vivaro - it has the exact same load area dimensions as the standard van:
Vauxhall Vivaro Electric van | L1 | L2 |
Maximum standard load length (mm) | 2,512 | 2,862 |
Load length with FlexCargo (mm) | 2,017 | 2,365 |
Minimum load length (mm) | 2,185 | 2,535 |
Maximum load height (mm) | 1,397 | 1,397 |
Maximum load width (mm) | 1,628 | 1,628 |
Width between the wheelarches (mm) | 1,258 | 1,258 |
Rear door opening height (mm) | 1,220 | 1,220 |
Rear door opening width (mm) | 1,282 | 1,282 |
Standard load volume (cubic metres) | 5.3 | 6.1 |
Load volume with FlexCargo (cubic m) | 5.8 | 6.6 |
Where the Vivaro Electric does differ from its diesel counterparts is when it comes to payload and towing capacity.
But while neither of these can match the best diesel models it is important to note that they are both extremely impressive for a pure electric van.
Vauxhall Vivaro Electric payload
The Vivaro Electric's maximum payload is 1,226kg. To get to that level you will need the smaller L1 model with the smaller 50kWh battery pack.
If you're keen on the bigger 75kWh battery pack and the longer driving range it brings (over 200 miles in theory), the max payload you'll be legally allowed to carry is 1,002kg.
The most capable diesel Vivaro will carry around 130kg more than the best electric version.
Vauxhall Vivaro Electric towing capacity
Every Vivaro Electric is rated to tow 1,000kg (1.0-tonne) braked.
Diesel Vivaros can tow 1,400-2,500kg, depending on variant.
