Volkswagen ID.Buzz Cargo dimensions (2023-on)
The Volkswagen ID.Buzz Cargo might be an all-new vehicle, but the platform underneath it is a tried and tested one, as it forms the basis of several of the VW Group’s passenger car models.
These underpinnings weren’t originally designed for a commercial vehicle but were created with flexibility in mind. Below are all the details of the Volkswagen ID.Buzz Cargo’s dimensions and payload.
There is only the one body size and shape of Volkswagen ID.Buzz Cargo van. Although there is a long-wheelbase people-carrying ID.Buzz due in 2023, there are not yet any plans to offer a longer version of the Cargo, although it hasn’t been categorically ruled out either.
There is only the one height, too.
VW ID.Buzz Cargo external dimensions:
- Length: 4,712mm
- Width: 2,212mm
- Height: 1,951mm
- Wheelbase: 2,989mm
Because there is only the one size and shape of ID.Buzz Cargo, there is not much in the way of flexibility in terms of its loading space. You can get a small loading hatch in the version that has three seats in the cabin, but that is about it.
The good news is that the loading bay comes with a basic wooden lining and floor, so you won’t have to pay to do that the second it arrives.
It is capable of taking two Euro pallets, but its size is put into context when you consider that it is only as big as the shortest Citroen Berlingo/Peugeot Partner etc inside, despite being as long outside as the larger Citroen Dispatch or Peugeot Expert.
VW ID.Buzz Cargo internal dimensions:
- Maximum load length to bulkhead: 2,208mm (2,232mm with side-hinged rear doors)
- Maximum load height: 1,279mm
- Width between the wheelarches: 1,230mm
- Standard load volume: 3.9 cubic metres
The ID.Buzz Cargo doesn’t cover itself in glory when it comes to its payload, either. The van version is only capable of taking 607kg of load, which is lower than the smaller Renault Kangoo E-Tech and a long way off the best from the class below – the Citroen Berlingo manages to take around 750kg of payload.
The VW looks even poorer when compared to medium vans – the Mercedes-Benz eVito can carry not far shy of 900kg.
