Citroen Berlingo receives 2015 update

  • Small changes to interior and exterior
  • Now Euro-6 compliant
  • Prices yet to be announced

Citroen has made slight alterations to the Berlingo van for the 2015 year, and will be unveiling the new vehicle at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. In addition to enhanced exterior styling, the small van now features new interior options, new technology and Euro-6 compliant engines.

Exterior styling

While the exterior alterations may be modest, Citroen says the Berlingo now appears more assertive, without being aggressive. The bumper and radiator grille are new and appear to sit lower than previously, while the Daytime Running Lights have been slightly repositioned.

In the cab

Not much has changed on the inside either, with the three modular front seats and dashboard layout remaining the same. The difference can only be noticed whilst driving because Citroen says it has optimised the aerodynamics and minimised cabin noise.

New technologies

The biggest difference can be seen on the spec sheet, as a whole host of new technologies have been introduced for the first time. A new seven-inch Touchdrive Interface, which incorporates a rear reversing camera, mirror screen technology for smartphones, voice recognition, telematics and call management has been added.

Active City Brake, which uses radar to activate an automatic braking system designed to prevent collisions at up to 30kph (17mph), will also be available from November 2015 production.

Euro-6 engines with Adblue

In anticipation of next year’s legislation, the 2015 Citroen Berlingo will be compliant with Euro-6 emission standards. The BlueHDi diesel family was launched into Citroen’s car range at the end of 2013, and cuts nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions and reduces CO2 emissions by using an SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) system.

The 17-litre Adblue tank should last around 12,500 miles and can be rolled into service intervals. Adblue costs around £1.60 a litre so it shouldn’t affect running costs too much. It custs the Berlingo’s emissions to: 110g/km on the BlueHDi 75 and 100 manual, 108g/km of CO2 on the BlueHDi 100 S&S manual, 106g/km of CO2 on the BlueHDi 100 S&S ETG6 and 112g/km on the BlueHDi 120 S&S 6-speed manual.

Price and availability

The official on sale date is beginning of July but orders will be available from late April, but Citroen says it’s a little too early to talk prices yet.
