Abarth 600e verdict

Should you buy one?
Yes. Abarth has transformed the squishy 600e into a fast and fun little firecracker that works brilliantly on UK roads. If you can live with the range and tight rear legroom, it’s unlikely to disappoint those looking for an electric alternative to a traditional hot hatchback.
Even with 240hp, the base car provides just enough performance to take advantage of the limited-slip differential that really makes this car. A MINI Cooper SE or Alpine A290 will feel plusher inside and are more adjustable on corner entry, but neither have the traction or front end bite of the Abarth. The Alfa Romeo Junior Veloce? Worth considering if you want a 600e that’s slightly softer and plusher.
But which model to buy? The standard car offers all the performance you need, but the range-topping Scorpionissima gives you a smidge more and combines it with more tech and creature comforts. If you can afford it, it’s a more complete package.
