Alfa Romeo 146 1.8 TS 16V 5d (1999/S) Owner Review

Economy
Value
I paid a fair bit for mine. But from prices I've seen recently there are some bargains to be had.
Costs
I've had to change a couple of sensors and the clutch salve cylinder so far. Main dealer service departments charge a lot. Parts can be expensive from Alfa, but sourcing parts from alternative places can be a lot cheaper.

Performance
For a 1.8 it shifts.

Living with it
Reliability
Never let me down (yet).
Image
I guess its all down to personal taste, but I think the 146 looks better than any other car of similar price/age/size.
Comfort
Nice interier, plain, simple and classy.

Security and Service
Security
Alarm and immobiliser as standard.
Service
Service department was very helpful and expensive.

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
Lambda sensor broke causing the car to run rich.
Other
Rear brake calipers had seized at some point and the rear pads were glazed causing a horrible squeeking noise when reversing. New pads sorted this.
