Alfa Romeo 146 2.0 ti 5d (2000/V) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
Alot of car for the money, however be prepared for a few niggles.
Costs
Fuel economy good when taking into account performance potential, parts prices far too high and few pattern parts available to compete with dealer prices. Insurance costs fairly high but not a suprise

On the road
Driving
The faster and harder you drive it the better it behaves; alot of fun; a good drivers car better than the Golf GTi.
Performance
Excellent engine and gearbox, terrific exhaust note when pushed hard, very addictive.

Living with it
Reliability
Day to day reliability is good, but there are a few faults which have needed constant attention.
Image
Attractive car and quite exclusive, although some people still prejudge the cars on how Alfas used to be.
Comfort
Good driving position, comfortable seats, loads of equipment, however not as solid as German rivals.

Security and Service
Security
Standard remote alarm/ immobiliser seems okay, but remote operation tempermental.
Service
I carry out all my own repairs and servicing, as I am a Motor Engineer by trade. Parts prices and availability from dealers in my experience is poor.
