Alfa Romeo 146 2.0 ti 5d (1996/N) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
Becoming cheap now.
Costs
Highly expensive parts (£600 for new Cat converter).
-
On the road
Driving
Fun, but suspension too soft and it bounces around too much.
Performance
8.4 seconds 0-60 is impressive, engine seems to lose some power after a long run however.
-
Living with it
Reliability
Fuel injection light kept coming on, cat went, paint faded on door mirrors and spoiler.
Image
A poor mans Alfa? More like a Fiat with a Alfa engine really.
Comfort
Good seats, lots of space, but very very cheap trim, with lots of annoying rattles from seat belt buckles and the creaking dashboard -common on most 146's apparently.
-
Security and Service
Security
Good, but loose the infamous Red Key, and you are in for a huge bill to replace it.
Service
Alfa dealers are a bit of a joke to be honest, they have problems with parts supply for new cars. Often there's a three- to four- week wait to book your car in for repairs.
