Alfa Romeo 147 (2001 - 2009) 1.6 TS (120bhp) 5d Owner Review

In their own words
For me my Alfa has been the best car I have owned. It has it's flaws like others, but for me the positives have outweighed these. It has speed, and for me coming out of junctions it has never failed me. Interior space is good for the driver and front passenger and the dash is clear, especially at night. 9 years on And the car still stands out amongst its newer competititors in a car park. The bodywork is solid, much stronger than the newer upmarket cars you get nowadays. Smashing into one of these, will be more of a headache for the one who has hit you!
It has its flaws, such as the turning radius, which is poor. When I get in/ or out of tight spaces it can be a problem. I have driven bigger cars like NISSAN X-trail, hardbody, Murano (my husband works for NISSAN) and even a Lotus, and I have never had so much Trouble maneuvering as I have done with my Alfa. Also the front is low, so it has been scraped a couple of times (something that can't be avoided due to the poor road quality abroad where I live). Electrics are a problem as well, and access to parts is an issue in the country where I live. The boot could have been a bit bigger too.
I have my sights on my next car...the Alfa Giulia or better still the Stelvio. Here's hoping.....
How reliable do you find the car?
I have actually had no major problems. The problems I have had have all been electrical, mainly relating to the electric Windows.Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
I know after nearly 9 years it hasn't done that much mileage, but when I put my foot to the pedal it still zooms off. You feel that once it hits 70 miles, 5th gear isn't enough, and it should have been fitted with a 6th gear. Is still a smooth drive as well!About their car
