Alfa Romeo 164 3.0 V6 Lusso 4d (1989/G) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
A lot of performance and luxury for your money.
Costs
Cheap to buy, reasonably economical for a 3 litre car - 30 mpg possible.
-
On the road
Driving
A luxury four-door saloon that drives like a hot hatch!
Performance
Stunning acceleration, more speed than you can use, good brakes, handles like a Golf Mk 1 GTi.
-
Living with it
Reliability
Appalling! A brilliant car spoiled by stupid design faults (oil pressure operated timing belt tensioner that leaks oil on the belt for instance) and typically poor Alfa build quality and quality control.
-
Security and Service
Security
Mine unlocks itself regularly despite (or possibly because of) the attentions of an Alfa dealer - thanks St Leonards Motors…
Service
Alfa (Fiat to be realistic) don"t want to know about problems. Getting the RIGHT parts from a dealer is nearly impossible.
