Alfa Romeo 33 Hatchback 1.7 16V Cloverleaf Permanent 4 5d (1991/H) Owner Review

Economy
Value
I think everyone must think Alfa's are expensive, they're not. Throw in only average depreciation, and the thinking hooligan can pick up a bargain.
Costs
Again, parts are cheaper than you might think (£45 for a whole mirror is fairly typical and ball park for this class of car).

On the road
Driving
Great grip and handling - Recaro seats keep you in place. Ride quality is like a sportscar, brakes unfortunately are not.
Performance
Goes like a missile so long as you use the revs, monsterly gutless below 3000 rpm.

Living with it
Reliability
Tough as old boots and twice as hard. Nothing breaks but bits do get broken, if that makes sense.
Image
Sophisticated but slightly bad.
Comfort
You gotta be joking? Actually quite refined on the smooth stuff, I did 4000 miles on holiday last summer and it was fantastic.

Security and Service
Security
Erm... its got door locks and an ignition key? Best thing is no-one knows what it is, so tends to be left alone by the tea-leaves.
Service
You need to hunt around for a good dealer - many are indifferent but there's an army of specialists who are dedicated and excellent (and cheaper too - important at this value of car).

Engine
80,000 miles and it uses 500ml of oil every 12,000 miles. Read it and weep, Japfans.
