Alfa Romeo Giulia Speciale 2.2 Turbo Diesel 180hp auto 4d Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
I’ll get this out the way first. This car is not perfect. The Giulia does not have the best infotainment/sat nav system but it does the job. The diesel engine is a little rough when cold. The boot, while big enough, has a restricted opening making loading a little tricky.
That said, this is without question the best car I’ve ever driven. Once the engine is warmed up, it’s smooth and delivers power effortlessly right through the rev range. The 8 speed ZF auto box is as smooth as silk. The handling is like a sports car, holding the road with its precise, pointy steering, it’s just glued to the road and yet, during our recent holiday in Cornwall the Giulia averaged over 50mpg over 1250 miles on all kinds of roads.
And then there’s the looks. I’ve lost count of the number of people in the last 9 months or so who’ve asked me about the car, or people I’ve seen staring at it while I’m stopped at traffic lights or paying for fuel. I’ve never had that before with any car I’ve driven. I can’t help looking back myself after I’ve parked it at work.
I’ve had only one real problem which was the random alarm issues which is a known problem and was quickly and by the dealer by replacing the sensor unit behind the ceiling light cluster.
The Giulia won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but if you want a good looking car that’s great to drive, you can’t go wrong. I think I’ll keep this one...
