Alfa Romeo Giulia Super 2.0 Turbo Petrol 200hp auto 4d Owner Review

In their own words
All Alfas i've owned in the past have had a distinctive 'feel' as soon as you sat in them. Incredibly comfortable seats that you never wanted to get out of, in fact you could sit in an alfa all day and all night they fitted you like an old glove, sumptuous and supportive. A real feel of quality. The new Giulia whilst practical i'm more happy to get out of rather than in. Maybe it's because it's only the super edition you might say but i have sat in a veloce only to find those seats only marginally better. I think this is a typical fiat marketing tool to get you to spend more on a higher spec, i think it's a failure as it may lose them many future sales. A car should be comfortable if not luxurious to bear the alfa badge. A worrying gripe i have with the drivers seat moves' on occasion in right hand bends, i let my local dealer have a look at it but all they could say was sorry cant find anything wrong, if a customer says something is wrong the problem should be properly investigated, especially as there has been a recall for said problem. Don't get me wrong i like the car but a few basic things addressed by the manufacturer might go a long way to gaining a better slice of the market for this company. The engine is beautifully smooth and powerful, very subdued, i do miss the rasp of alfas of yester-year. Steering and handling is great albeit a fidgety rear end (not as planted as i had hoped) the car is extremely responsive as is the stopping power. 'Brake by wire' as it's called is very good but requires some getting used to making smooth stopping difficult at times. Interior controls are pretty much up to alfa standard if you include the radio coming on every time your passenger's arm goes near the centre console. Headlights are much improved over previous alfas, the standard halogens every bit as good as the led's ive experienced on some other brand. Oh i nearly forgot to mention the droning noise you get from the tyres that sounds like a noisy wheel bearing, another common feature that is complained about on the internet. So there you have it, the Giulia a truly great car in the making, i just hope that alfa/fiat spend many years improving it as some other brands have done instead of replacing it with another car altogether in 5 years time as they have in the past. I do love alfas and will probably buy another, but as a popular motoring show host says they're hard to recommend.
