Alfa Romeo Giulia Super 2.2 Turbo Diesel 180hp auto 4d Owner Review

In their own words
I live in Portugal so these comments may not be relevant to UK drivers. I have seen a lot of criticism of the infotainment system. It is perfectly useable once you understand how it works. When all else fails, try reading the (36 page) manual which is available online. In any event, the much-praised BMW system is no model of perfection. Just try inputting GPS co-ordinates into the satnav on a 3-series and tell me it is user friendly - not. I speak from experience since I had a 3 series before the Alfa. The Giuilia is a pleasure to drive and its ride is sensibly set up for less than perfect roads. A note of caution however. I drove a demonstrator on larger wheels with runflat tyres and that makes the ride unpleasantly hard for B-roads. 17 inch wheels with conventional tyres are a better combination for day to day use. There is one other point which I have not seen mentioned. The ground clearance at the front of the car is quite restricted. You have to be careful with speed bumps and steep entry/exit ramps in car parks or you will ground the front end amid much beeping from the parking sensors. After only 2,000 miles I can say I have no regrets about buying the Giuilia and my wife likes it, which is no bad thing. It also look so much better than the German competition and it is, at least in Portugal, much cheaper than a comparable BMW 320d (like about Euro 7,000 cheaper for practically the same performance) Alfa are targeting the Audi A4 and BMW 3 series with the Guilia and are offering attractive dscounts if you are moving from one of those brands, so shop around for a deal.
How reliable do you find the car?
After only 2,000 miles reliability cannot be judged but there are no rattles and nothing fell off. The car came with a 4-year warranty. I was offered an option of free servicing or a longer warranty and took the latterDoes the car do everything you expected it to do?
Decent performance for a diesel, a little clattery at low speeds but fine on a motorway. Handlng is a hoot.About their car
