Economy
Value
Bought mine with 36k miles in May 2001 - now has covered 96k (July '03). Depreciation in that time has only been £5k - good value considering the fun and entertainment provided.
Costs
When you buy an Alfa, you know that bits won't be cheap, but hunting around factors can save a fortune. Spark plugs x 8 from Alfa cost about £200 - same ones from Halfords were only £100.

On the road
Driving
Superb! You soon get used to the slight jiggles, which only add to the charisma of the car. Overall, one of the best cars I have ever driven.
Performance
Maybe a tad sluggish from standstill, but once the variable valve timing cuts in, and above 4,500 revs, you can feel it roll up its sleeves!

Living with it
Reliability
Has only let me down once - accelerator linkage snapped outside my house and Alfa took 4 days to get another one. Otherwise, first turn of the key and off she goes.
Image
Beautifully styled outside and in, wonderful sounding engine and exhaust rasp. Always attracts comments and second glances in car parks.
Comfort
Very comfortable seats, despite no lumbar support, no lateral movement when cornering quickly. All switchgear methodical and easily operated. Two people only, but who needs more?

Security and Service
Security
Was fitted with Toad Cat 1 alarm/immobiliser before I bought it - that was required by the insurers due to area I live. No-one has tried to have it away (yet!)

Accelerator linkage broke at 40k miles. Uses 1.5 litres of oil per 1000 miles (not smoking or leaking!)
