Alfa Romeo GTV 2.0 TS 16V Lusso 2d (2000/W) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Italian sportscar for this money - there must be a catch? Only the servicing / keeping on the road bills. UK insurance group 16 is very reasonable!
Costs
No probs yet - so no big bills yet. Drinks oil (no leaks - a common finding on the TwinSpark). Dealer servicing is expensive - if you can find one go for an independent Alfa Specialist.

On the road
Driving
Pin sharp handling, cornering and go-kart-like steering makes every roundabout a fun experience.
Performance
Puts most other Coupes / Germans to shame - may not be quickest in a straight line, but that handling... Whooooooaaaaa!! More more more!
-
Living with it
Reliability
No probs to date (owned 6 Months), but do your research and buy the best you can. Websites give good ideas on what to look for...
Image
Alfa, Italian, coupe and that engine... 'nuff said!
Comfort
It's a sportscar! Expect rattles, expect teeth shaking - but expect feedback from the road - which is what you need when driven hard. Boot's a Joke and so are the rear seats, but that's missing the point!
-
Security and Service
Security
Meta Cat1 alarm fitted - not stolen... (yet!)
Service
1 service at main dealer - No probs yet, but other comments say "be wary"... Alfa / Fiat aren't known for customer service. Again, try to find a specialist.

Problems and Ownership

Cold weather can affect central locking. Bonnet sensor known to fail (mine did - easily sorted) and of course that infamous window fitting... Just get in, let window down - and then up again... sorted!
