Alfa Romeo Junior Veloce verdict

If joyous handling, punchy performance and a relatively cushioned ride are top of your EV wishlist then yes, you should absolutely buy a Junior Veloce. It feels like an old-school hot hatch and while it’s not as willing to slide about as a MINI Cooper SE it’s more fun more of the time.
While Alfa has done wonders with the way the Junior Veloce drives, it does inherit a few issues with the platform. It’s a compact car so rear space isn’t great, and the driving range is a bit on the short side, too. It’s also a lot pricier than the Cooper SE, although the Veloce is faster and has more go faster tech.
What’s undeniable is that it’s far more fun than overpowered twin motor rivals such as the MG4 XPower. In fact, the Veloce’s biggest problem comes from within the Stellantis group. Not only is the Abarth 600e thousands cheaper, it’s even sharper to drive.
What we like
Delicate and involving handling that’s increasingly hard to find, especially in EVs. It’s fast without being silly, is well equipped and not outrageously expensive.
What we don’t like
Cramped rear, interior feels a bit cheap in places, range could be better.
