Aston Martin DB12 Volante verdict
Should you buy one?
If you can, you absolutely should. It feels far more special than a Mercedes-AMG SL or Maserati GranCabrio, and more agile than a Bentley Continental GT Convertible. Some will miss the howl of the old V12, but nobody is likely to feel short-changed by the acceleration on offer. Similarly, it handles better than the DB11, with more precision and much less chance of a white knuckle moment.
There are certainly sharper-handling options out there from Ferrari and McLaren, but the DB12 is as much about covering long distances comfortably as it is going around corners quickly. The cushioned ride and luxurious interior certainly help here, making it the kind of thing you’d cross continents in happily.
No longer do you have to deal with recycled tech from generations ago, the DB12’s interior feels contemporary without relying too much on touchscreens and is filled with high-quality materials that look and feel great. It’s a complete transformation that’s long overdue.
