Should you buy an Aston Martin DBX?

A new Aston Martin DBX is one of those cars that will be out of reach for the majority, but if you’re in the fortunate position to have this kind of money to spend on a new SUV, the answer is a definite yes.

The DBX is perhaps the coolest SUV that you can buy, with a design clearly linked to its sports cars, and its sheer breadth of talent, from being an excellent family car to being fit for the track, is hard to beat.

Upgrades to the interior as part of the 2024 update are most certainly welcome and finally mean that the DBX no longer has a significant weakness like it did previously.

What we like

The way the DBX drives is astounding, with such a broad breadth of talent from comfort to outright sportiness. The performance on offer is astonishing yet it’s still perfectly usable as an everyday family car with its vast interior space. The DBX looks stunning and is certainly up there with the best SUVs – it’s not as brash as many of its rivals – and now has an interior that doesn’t let the side down.

What we don’t like

You won’t be buying an Aston Martin for its low running costs, but the DBX is especially thirsty on fuel, meaning you’ll regularly be stopping at the petrol station, even despite its massive 85-litre fuel tank. While the interior is a big improvement, we think it’s perhaps not quite as special as it could be, and for the price. A Ferrari Purosangue’s cabin feels more special, though is also quite a lot more expensive.
