What are the running costs?
According to official figures, the Vantage V8 will return close to 28mpg on the combined WLTP cycle. We averaged an indicated 24mpg over a mix of town and motorway driving, which is really impressive considering the pace on offer.
Official ratings for the V12 aren’t in yet. But we reckon it’ll easily dip below 20mpg and well into the mid 10s.
The Vantage is not a cheap car to run and in some respects if you’re even curious enough to ask about the mpg figures it probably isn’t the right car for you.
Servicing and maintenance
Servicing and maintenance costs are what you’d expect for such an expensive car. Aston recommends servicing every 10,000 miles or once per year. Prices generally range from £700 – £1,000. The V8 is marginally cheaper to service of the pair.
The Vantage comes with a three-year/unlimited mileage warranty. Aston also offers an extended warranty, available in 12-or 24-month durations. This covers most things except paintwork, bodywork, soft trim and routine service items.
Reliability
- Gearbox is from ZF
- V8 from Mercedes
- A few recalls
Mechanically, the engine is widely used in the Mercedes range, so any teething problems should be rectified by now. Any parts required should be easy to source, too, even if they may not be the most affordable. This also goes for the infotainment system, as this will be tried and tested.
The Vantage has been subject to a few recalls, however, mostly concerning airbags and minor fixtures.
