Audi 100 Saloon 2.2E 4d (1988/E) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
Unbeatable value. Can be bought for peanuts now.
Costs
No major expenses. Reasonable on fuel too, considering the size of the car and the fact it's a 5-cylinder engine.
-
On the road
Driving
Good long distance cruising car. Handles quite well due to the uprated factory suspension set up.
Performance
A solid performer. Surprisingly quick for a big old car.
-
Living with it
Reliability
Very reliable, but sometimes takes a few seconds for the engine to fire up once the key is turned, but always starts first time.
Image
A bit of an 'old man's' car I suppose, but with the value for money, performance and all the creature comforts fitted as standard, who cares!
Comfort
Nice and comfortable, especially relaxing on the motorway.
-
Security and Service
Security
No factory or aftermarket alarm fitted and no need to really, considering the value of the car.
Service
Never use a main dealer for a car this old. A friendly local independant specialist is a much more sensible option.

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
No problems. The smooth 5-cylinder engine is very reliable.
Other
A faulty electric window motor and the driver's door handle catch, which broke. Both were simple to fix.
