Summary
What does this car say about you?
Timeless design. Makes the driver feel unstoppable. Exudes confidence and is a great place to be.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
I have since passed this car on to my mother who has taken to it amazingly well considering she tootled about in a Nissan Micra previously. Parents love the solid, big car feel.
Would you buy this car again and why?
I most definately would. It is an iconic car, and the bodywork remained solid despite high mileage and 13 years of age.
What are you likely to buy next?
This car was a great advert for the Audi brand, I would be tempted to buy a VAG brand car again.

Did you get a good deal and why?
Bought thru internet auction site, didnt even go to see car before winning auction. Car was solid and although high mileage (175k) was a bargain.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
This was the 90bhp diesel engine, and whilst this is not a lot by today's standards it still provided ample pulling power for a car fully laden. Cruises all day at motorway speeds no problems.
What's it like to park?
Being the Avant you might expect it to be slightly awkward to slot into parking spaces, but the visibility is good all round, and the power steering was light enough and responsive.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Drove a gruelling 1500-mile round trip across northern Europe. This included the centre of Paris at rush hour in the summer when sat on the clutch crawling thru the city - yet not a single problem.
What's most practical about your car?
This being the Avant, it is spacious whilst remaining manouverable around tight city streets. Not as big as some other estates, but a very useable load space. Rear seats dont quite fold fully flat but nevertheless still ultimately practical.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
This model is simply the standard 1.9 TDI, not the SE. It has an elec sunroof, but windows are manual and no aircon. I personally prefer it this way - less to go wrong!
