Audi 80 Avant 1.9 TDi SE 5d (1995/N) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
It's an Audi - what else do you need to know?
Costs
Being a diesel, economy figures are great, however running costs can be high. Genuine component prices are expensive.

On the road
Driving
Excellent for winter driving as the car is heavy. Also good in the wet.
Performance
Turbo diesel has plenty of power considering it's only 90bhp. Low-end torque just when you need it. Cruises happily at 70/80mph. ABS brakes are essential, given the weight of the vehicle.

Living with it
Reliability
Look after it and it'll run forever. If possible - change oil every 5,000 miles. Exhaust emissions can be a problem though. Use Forte diesel conditioner to reduce levels.
Image
Understated, yet elegant. Looks great with genuine Audi 10-spoke alloys.
Comfort
Driving position is comfortable with supportive seats. Only drawback is there's no steering adjustment.
-
Security and Service
Security
Immobiliser and alarm fitted as standard.
Service
Audi dealers are a law to themselves. Honestly only interested fleet sales or new owners.

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
Timing belt and tensioner pulley need to be replaced every 60,000 miles.
Other
Because it's heavy, you can expect to replace shocks, suspension bushes, etc.
