Economy
Value
Second hand ones can be bought very cheaply now, and you get a lot of car for the money. Make sure it has a good service history though and has been looked after.
Costs
Parts can be fairly expensive (obviously because its an Audi!) but second hand and reconditioned parts are very cheap and worth it.

On the road
Driving
Fantastic fun to drive. With all the usual Audi luxuries.
Performance
Fantastic performance, very lively especially on the top end. Give it a quick tune and a k&n filter and you have a car that does 0-60 in between 7&8 seconds which is pretty quick, even by today's standards!

Living with it
Reliability
All the Audi 80s are generally pretty reliable. Mechanically the 16v is the best option. They have a great engine in them and its only ever things like bushes, struts and suspension that goes. But these can be repaired fairly cheaply.
Image
Has a timeless image, especially the metallic green with the twin exhaust, black upholstery and leather steering wheel. Coupe and sport line bumpers can also be fitted very cheaply. These can make it look a lot sportier.
Comfort
I have the black recaro styled seats which are top of the range, look out for the models with these in. They are very comfortable, worth quite a lot more and certainly look the part as well.
