Audi 80 Saloon 2.8 E quattro 4d (1991/J) Owner Review

Economy
Value
For the performance, safety and longevity the prices of these vehicles is ridiculously low. Especially when you consider that a Mondeo with the first signs of rust and unreliability is the same price.
Costs
Petrol consumption at 25mpg isn't too good. DIY servicing is cheap when using Audi specialist parts suppliers.

On the road
Driving
The handling and roadholding are nothing short of amazing. Handling is completely neutral due to the permanent 4x4. The brakes have a 60 to 0mph of around 3 secs on good tyres.
Performance
A German engineered 2.8 litre engine in an Audi 80 bodyshell just about says it all. Strong in any gear.

Living with it
Reliability
Apart from suspension rubbers and front ball joints nothing seems to ever go wrong.
Image
Sometimes seen as a bit boring. This makes it one of the best Q-cars though.
Comfort
The abilities of the car to eat up long journeys -+leaving the occupants relatively fresh are excellent. The front seats are too hard for some people though.

Security and Service
Security
With a Thatcham Cat 1 alarm and immobiliser plus bodywork and locks better suited to a tank, no-one is going to steal it unless they tow it away. The ignition barrel in the dash is also a good deterrent.
Service
Audi UK service is relatively poor for older cars. However the plethora of specialists allows an excellent level of service to be found.
