Audi A1 Sportback (2012 - 2018) 1.6 TDI SE 5d Owner Review

In their own words
We've had the car since new, now at 96,000 miles. It's been generally reliable but not totally trouble free. 6 months old it needed a new radio system as the original died - done under warranty. It's also had both tail light clusters replaced and needed repairs to the tail light wiring loom - the contacts are too small and can burn out melting the plug and socket. It's also had a broken spring and a new oil cooler (again, this is a known issue with the 1.6TDI and £350+ by an independent garage to fix). The main dealers broke the plastic oil filler cap so the car spat all it's oil out. They denied knowledge but funny that it happened just after a service. It's also recently developed an oil leak although this isn't serious enough to bother about.
Cheshire Oaks Audi are one of the most arrogant dealerships I've ever had the misfortune to deal with for servicing. The car has been serviced by a local independent ever since the oil filter incident.
Fuel consumption driven normally is 53-55 mpg, was better until the Audi "emissions fix". also the DPF light comes on occasionally again after the "fix" which means a blast up the motorway to clear. On a long run and driving carefully, 70mpg is possible. It's actually better to drive with 96k on the clock than it was new!
Summary, it's been good, but not great.
