Audi A1 Sportback (2012-2018) verdict
Should you buy a used Audi A1 Sportback?
Despite the fact it does not have the driving dynamics of many of its rivals, it’s expensive to buy and the mechanical question marks may score against it, we’d say yes. Bought in good order from the right source, the A1 Sportback is a wonderfully well built little car. DO check though that you can live with the ride comfort before committing. Some say it’s a bit over-firm where others reckon it to be unbearably harsh, especially when fitted with bigger wheels.
Most of the mechanical fragility was amended during the production run and Audi dealers were keen to put right many of the wrongs under warranty. That said, there are some dogs out there, especially in the lower end of the trader food chain.
Buy right and you’ll love it though, and really nice ones hold their value better than Myrrh. Also, don’t be afraid to use them as a distance machine either; despite the pint sized package, the motorway refinement of the A1 puts many a larger premium saloon to utter shame.
