Economy
Value
Poor value for money. As a small family car the A3 is relatively expensive but does not live up to the expectations I had from an Audi (having previously owned an A4).

On the road
Performance
The 1600cc engine is simply not powerful enough.
-
Living with it
Reliability
Several small niggly problems and a major problem with the dash control panel which had to be completely replaced - which to Audi's credit they did do under the extended warranty.
Image
Not one of Audi's more appealing cars.
Comfort
OK but there is no room in the rear for a third person (small or otherwise).

Security and Service
Security
The alarm sometimes goes off if the car boot is being packed but the rest of the car has not been opened.

In the 1st year of ownership the car has been back to the Audi dealership twice to fix a major dash control panel problem. There have also been a number of smaller niggly problems - broken armrest, broken passenger side electric window and others.
