Summary
What does this car say about you?
Most people just see a black car with shiney wing mirrors. Special to those who know however.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
All generally approve of it.
Would you buy this car again and why?
Nope. The lack of reliability along with the mildy disappointing driving experience mean if I had my time again I would buy something else. High fuel consumption too, expect no better than 24-28mpg.
What are you likely to buy next?
Either a Mk4 Golf R32 or Mk5 Golf GTi.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Independent
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£10,000
When did you buy the car?
July 2008
Did you get a good deal and why?
Fairly good deal, good trade-in value for part exchange.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Wanted something quicker and more mature than previous car. Audi TT performance with more subtle looks.
What was the dealer like?
Initial salesman rude, arrogant and lacking in knowledge. No longer with dealership. Other staff acceptable.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Fairly quick, though not as brisk as I expected. Low down torque and six-speed gearbox gives good flexibility. Fair steering feedback, with good grip. Haldex quattro system largely redundant.
What's it like to park?
Steering is heavy at low speed, otherwise no real problems.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Turbo required replacement immediately after purchase under warranty. Various sensors also changed. Front suspension springs cracked. Infamous 1.8T ignition coils also failed.
What's most practical about your car?
Fairly compact, but with a decent sized boot. Ride is supple compared to some more hardcore hot hatches. High fuel consumption.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Bose sound system with boot mounted sub-woofer. Genuine aluminium wing mirrors if that's your cup of tea.
