In their own words
Overall very pleased with the car. The car was 16 years old when i bought it, but lowish mileage (99000). I wanted something which i could use now and then for longer runs. The car had been well looked after and the interior was in very good condition. The sport edition comes with leather seats and a comfortable interior. Road noise is pretty low when cruising.
The diesel engine puts out 140bhp which is more than enough and never struggles, just purrs along without breaking a sweat. This car is the 3 door version wish is fine for me but wont suit if you regularly carry rear seat passengers who aren't that mobile. Overall the car s styling is classic German turn of the century which i really like (the current A3 looks a bit generic).
Surprisingly the mpg is pretty good at circa 62mpg which is significantly better than most modern suvs.
Boot space is reasonable and i have. Comfortably got a full sized bike in the back with the seats down.
Summary Pros - great distinctive styling, smooth quiet engine, good mpg, great interior. Plenty of space. Cons - maintenance not the easiest for a home mechanic . Most actions need the front bumper to be removed (2 hours!). Engine turbo will be costly to fix if there is a problem.
Overall strongly recommend.
