Audi A3 Sportback (2004 - 2013) 1.8 TFSI (08) 5d Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
This came up within my budget and I decided to go for it and see how things went. It had a full Audi Service History and quite a low mileage for it's age. The reviews I'd read were mostly positive but after I bought the car I found some unpleasant stories about oil consumption. I monitored mine and indeed it does use oil. My previous car was a Honda V-tec which never used oil. By comparison to the Honda I was seeing oil usage and started worrying. I had an issue with the coolant pump which had to be replaced. That wasn't cheap but together with a full service at a good independent garage things improved. I still top up the oil about every six weeks but I've now accepted it's not a Honda V-tec and it does need a bit more attention.
The car itself is enjoyable to drive with a mix of performance and economy. Again power delivery is different to the V-tec but I've adjusted my driving style to suit the Audi. The interior is full leather and it's a pleasant place to be. It's spacious and practical. There are many gadgets and querks which I'm slowly discovering and plenty of Audi add ons and spares available online to improve the car. In conclusion I'm starting to warm to this car 14 months after buying it. I'm very much a Honda V-tec lover so it's been difficult to adjust. Sometimes it's good to try something different!
