Audi A3 Sportback (2013 - 2020) 1.4 TFSI e-tron 5d S Tronic Owner Review

In their own words
Four power modes. EV (great for short shopping trips etc) and its nippy enough 21miles +/-
Hybrid Auto - This prefers the EV mode but adds fuel when you put your foot down -gives best economy but the battery will run down albeit slowly.
Hybrid Hold - This is essentially 'self charging hybrid' mode and essential for long trips - it preserves the battery charge by topping it up as much as it uses.
Hybrid Charge - Not efficient but does convert fuel to charge quickly and this is useful if you have a lot of town driving approaching on a long trip and the battery is down and no charging will be available. Love the LED lighting (this version lacks some of the cleverer newer LED features)
The car drives lumpy with low charge so that is best avoided. With a handful of EV miles, this is a quick smooth ride. In Sport mode (a variant of hybrid hold quick accessed by tugging the gear selector) it is very fast off the mark making overtaking and motorway merging fun. Essentially a single pedal drive mode - amazing experience on twisty roads. 0-60 7.6s in a 1,4?
Downside basically is 1) lack of spare tyre (or space for one) 2) lack of boot space. As a two seater with the rear seats down you can carry luggage for two people for a week, I wish i had roof bars! And 3) Its a complex Audi so dealer service only (and even the dealer has to call folk in to do some things,). Most folk don't get the point of PHEVs and ask you the 'range' all the time, Having ANY charge on board in effect at least doubles your MPG (and more usually).
Sound system is ok (But I'd go for the B&O one given my choice again). Paint finish is lovely but attracts fine scratches if you look at it hard...
