As of 2020, the facelift car was available with three engines. The 45 TFSI petrol engine – a 265hp turbo that is capable of high-30s mpg when driven carefully. Official combined figures are 35.3-35.8mpg (on the WLTP ‘real world’ test and 179-182g/km of CO2 emissions. These are slightly higher than the regular A4 Avant, but a perfectly acceptable performance for a car with this amount of power.
The 40 TDI 204hp turbodiesel model complements this model by putting in a combined mpg figure of 47.9-48.7mpg (WLTP Combined) and 151-154g/km of CO2 emissions.
The final engine is the 286hp V6 50 TDI diesel. This officially manages 38.7-39.2mpg and 189-192g/km.
Is it reliable?
- Everything looks and feels like it’ll last
- Engines and transmissions see service elsewhere
- New infotainment seems to work well
The Allroad features engines and gearboxes that can be found in several other Audi models, where there have been few significant issues so far. Plus, the overall feel of the latest A4 range is one of solidity and high quality, which should allay any fears you have of interior rattles and squeaks becoming known.
We’ve previously experienced some issues with the firm’s Virtual Cockpit system, but this was on earlier models, and the A4 features the latest, updated system, so any software or technical issues should have been ironed out. If you do have any problems, all A4 Allroads come with a three-year, 60,000-mile warranty.
