Summary
What does this car say about you?
I need a practical vehicle for when I do DIY but need a car that is comfortable for holidays and capable of traveling at high motorway speeds. Probably because it is old, that I don't like spending too much money on an object that just de-values although it's at the point now where it owes me nothing and other than about 2 to £300 to put it through its MOT doesn't cost much to run, cheap motoring I'd say. It gets 53 mpg and I don't dawdle, Actually got better mpg towing half a ton of stone; how does that work out?
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Guy at work loves it and the mother in law thinks it's a real comfortable quiet car. My wife loves it too, she would, she picked it! Even the guy from Audi when I first got it was green with envy because it was a low mileage TD red I!
Would you buy this car again and why?
If I could find a nice one with low mileage, leather interior and wood trim with all the whistles and bells I'd buy it in a heart beat. Reliable, solid, nice to work on and despite its age still is one of the best looking cars in a car park, from the back has a real squat, powerful, wide stance.
What are you likely to buy next?
Probably another Audi, I'd love a nice A8, so that I can continue to work the A4.

My wife wanted me to buy an Audi estate and the Golf I drove had died!

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Great, pulls like a train, it's what the TD red I is noted for. With snow chains has enough bottom end grunt to get through the toughest snow. Will maintain high cruising speeds in comfort and with surefootedness.
What's it like to park?
No problem.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
The interior blower fan packed up last winter. Various suspension parts have needed to be replaced for the MOT aalong with a blown bulb!
What's most practical about your car?
It's got a large boot, has a towbar fitted and will tow a trailer with half a ton of stone in it no problem. It will also tow a caravan no bother. It cruises effortlessly and on the German auto bahns will pull 110 mph with wife and I plus a 67 kg woodburner and all our luggage.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Stereo is pretty good.
