It may be starting to show its age in the design stakes but there’s no denying the fact the A4 is well built and upmarket. Soft touch plastics, easy to use controls and simple dials make it incredibly user-friendly. The only criticism is a slightly fiddly stereo while rear visibility could be better, but overall it’s an interior that will last and last.
Up front the plush seats and decent legroom make the A4 Avant ideal for long distance cruising – it’s clear this was a car designed for the German Autobahns. The rear is a little cramped but the ride is impressive and it soaks up bumps with ease. Even the RS4 and S4 versions aren’t too stiff and thankfully don’t crash over shoddy roads.
