Audi A4 Saloon (2005 - 2007) 2.0 TDI (12/05) 4d Owner Review

Having come from a 2003 passat which did 206000 miles, 140000 of those being mine, i expected alot from this car. The truth being told, unlike the passat, this car does not age well at all. In my view this car was the beginning of audi's disposable culture of expensive parts. The fly wheel in my passat did the whole life of the car when i had it. It lasted 20000 miles in the audi before becoming excessively noisy. The compressor became very noisy and failed. The wheel arches suffered from corrosion with paint peeling off both sides. The sensor in the brake fluid tank became faulty which meant you have to replace the whole tank???? Between slow turnover of the car, brake errors on the dash, rusting arches, failing flywheels and not forgetting the broken glove compartment hinge which are all know issues in this car amongst others it is hard to see where vags reputation for reliability comes from. When one pulley fails such as the aircon and clutch pulley did in mine, it causes excessive whining from the power steering pump. I dont think i ever felt confident that the car would not blow up in some way. I will never by a vag car again. Its a money pit. VAG are the new renault is would appear.
