This generation of the A4 was not Euro NCAP crash tested, though the previous generation – which is structurally similar – gained four stars. All cars have dual front and side airbags, ABS and head restraints that help to counter whiplash. On the security front there is a Thatcham Category One alarm and immobiliser system fitted.

The boot has a capacity of 460 litres, which can be increased by split/folding the rear seats. An under floor, easy-to-clean tray is useful and adds to the storage capacity while the boot floor itself is wide and easy to access.
