Overview
The estate version of Audi’s large executive four-door model is the bigger seller of the two thanks to its increased space and versatility. It’s an alternative to cars like the Mercedes E-Class estate and BMW 5-Series Touring but offers better equipment levels and more affordable prices, making it a clever buy for those who aren’t swayed by badges. It’s well built with a comfortable and classy interior plus there’s a huge choice of engines available including some excellent diesels.
On the move it’s comfortable and cosseting but from the drivers point of view it lacks a little in terms of involvement and the Multitronic CVT gearbox is somewhat lacklustre. In October 2008 the model was facelifted with subtle exterior tweaks and a range of more efficient and powerful engines.
