The S6 is equipped with plenty of safety features including six airbags (with side airbags for the rear passengers optional) and a full compliment of electronic driver aids. The car was awarded a maximum five stars in the Euro NCAP crash tests and also comes with a host of sophisticated traction and stability controls.

The S6 is offered in saloon and estate bodystyles so buyers who need to move larger loads can specify the Avant with a maximum boot space of 1,660-litres. The saloon is still quite practical though thanks to 60/40 split folding rear seats and a capacity of 546-litres. Up front there’s good storage with a decent size glovebox plus an additional cubby in the armrest between the front seats.
