Audi A7 RS7 Sportback (2013-2018) running costs and reliability
Miles per pound (mpp)
Fuel economy
With a 552bhp twin-turbo V8 petrol engine powering nearly two tonnes of car, Audi RS7 running costs were never going to be cheap. That said, a raft of clever tech including a start-stop system and ‘COD’ (Cylinder On Demand), which shuts down four of the cylinders when the engine’s not being worked hard, help to save fuel by around 5% according to Audi.
Drive carefully and Audi reckon you’ll average nearly 29mpg, an impressive figure for a car of this level of performance. Drive with a heavy right foot, however, and you can expect to see a frighteningly low figure on the trip computer.
The same technology also helps to cut CO2, pegging Audi RS7 emissions at an official rating of 229g/km. While that’s still quite a large figure, it’s not bad at all for a 552bhp V8.
That said, it still puts it towards the top of the VED scale for road tax at the time of writing.
Audi has a solid reputation for build quality and we’d expect there to be few issues with Audi RS7 reliability. Naturally, it’s a high-performance car and if driven hard repeatedly over many miles then extra strain on components is to be expected. If buying second-hand, find out if the car has been used on track as this will increase wear and tear.
