Audi A8 S8 (2006-2011) interior, tech and comfort
The quality of materials and finish are excellent, as might be expected from a top-end Audi. The S8 differentiates itself from the standard car thanks to carbon fibre and aluminium trim and suede-like Alcantara that covers most of the interior. The majority of non-driving functions are controlled from what Audi calls its Multi Media Interface. It takes a bit of getting use to, but allows the main functions like stereo and satellite navigation to be managed using the same controller, reducing the number of buttons.
Numerous features to make the driver feel special are standard including motor-assisted doors which pull themselves closed and key-less entry and ignition.
The interior is spacious in both the front and back, with plenty of head, leg and shoulder room for four adults (a third rear passenger will fit if necessary). An adaptive air-suspension system features selectable Comfort and Dynamic modes and in the former the ride is very good on all but pot-holed surfaces. The front seats offer a huge range of electric adjustment while dual-zone air conditioning allows driver and passenger to choose their own air temperature.
Separate controls can be ordered for the rear occupants at extra cost.
