Audi A8 Saloon (2010 - 2018) 2.0 TFSI Hybrid LWB 4d Tip Auto Owner Review

I wanted a Hybrid Executive car. I looked at Lexus, BMW and Audi. The Audi Hybrid had the worst reviews by far. After driving BMW 7 and Lexus GS and LS I drove the Audi not expecting too much. It looks good from the outside. The interior is substantially better than the others. Looks and feels a class above. Spec of car, with massaging/cooled/heated seats and panoramic roof was great. Hybrid works resonably well. I get 30+ mpg with lots of short journeys. 40+ mpg on long runs. Very comfortable for long distances. So generally very happy with my choice. £92,000 car 5 years old with 30,000 miles on clock for £21,000! I bought from Audi Main dealer, warranty fixed a few items in year one. Using Audi dealers for serviceing is expensive, and painful. Long wait for booking, going via a "relationship Manager" rather than servicing dept to book, so you have to deal with a layer of staff, who know less than you about cars in general. Audi have confusing servicing. Instead of small, big,small, big services, they have "oil service" - every 6 - 10k miles, and "inspection" every 2 years. So you can have an oil service on mileage, then three months later an inspection service - where they want to repalce the oil and filters! Worst thing was having a serious leak of water into the car (boot and subesequently the back seat). Booked in, they diagnosed failed boot seal (rubber trim around the boot). £700 plus labour to sort. Not under warranty!!!!!!! Did not do. Tested myself the rubbers were fine. Discovered that leaking read windscreens are a known problem. Not under warrenty either. So, great car, economical, mile muncher, stylish, luxurious, great value used. Reliability, less than I had expected. Dealer network and Audi Warranty - poor.
