Audi Q6 e-tron SUV rivals
Overview
Audi already offers a line-up of electric SUVs, but now there’s a new arrival – the Q6 e-tron. Slotting between the Q4 e-tron and Q8 e-tron in its range, the Q6 is positioned as a premium executive SUV sitting opposite the Audi A6 saloon.
The Q6 is a hugely important new car for Audi, not least because it competes in the lucrative mid-size electric SUV segment against rivals such as the BMW iX3, Mercedes EQE SUV and best-selling Tesla Model Y.
The Q6 also ushers in a new-generation platform called Platform Premium Electric (PPE for short), which has been co-developed alongside Porsche, and will underpin a range of high-end electric models from Audi, Bentley and Porsche in the years to come. The new Porsche Macan Electric is also built on the same platform.
The key advantage of this platform is that it uses an 800-volt electrical architecture, which brings huge benefits to charging speeds. Audi also claims a 30% improvement in range compared to the older Q8 e-tron.
The Q6 is available in a range of specifications, including a sportier SQ6, with the most efficient version promising almost 400 miles from a charge. A sleeker Sportback model will also follow for those wanting something a bit more stylish.
Audi offers the Q6 e-tron in three trim levels – Sport, S line and Edition 1. Prices start from £59,975 for the Sport, with standard features including 19-inch alloy wheels, heated leather seats, a 14.5-inch OLED touchscreen and 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster.
S line models are priced from £62,975, and add 20-inch alloy wheels, a sportier bodykit and a heated steering wheel. The top-spec Edition 1 brings larger 21-inch alloys, sports suspension, Matrix LED headlights and a 10.9-inch touchscreen for the front-seat passenger. It starts from £67,975.
