In their own words
Purchased from a dealer and very glad I had a warranty as two issues common to the model affected it. 1. The tailgate would close but would display as not shut on the dashboard. There are two microswitches which fail, one on the tailgate and one in the body which was what went on mine. 2. Next issue was the keyless locking which is prone to going because people jetwash the door handles forcing water into the microswitches. I had four new handles which had to be colour coded to the bodywork. Not cheap! I read it may be possible to replace just the microswitches though. Not had any other issues. I made sure I had the gearbox oil changed at 75K miles as a preventative measure. Audi should not class this as sealed-for-life like many manufacturers do nowadays, although they are very strong designed to take 500hp of the V12 I wouldn't want to be having expensive issues further down the line. I got a spare set of wheels with winter tyres, it's absolutely unstoppable in snow combined with adjustable ride height. Copes admirably in soft sand on the beach as well. Was a little unsure whether to get the FSI supercharged petrol model which I would have converted to LPG, but the extra road tax put me off. I'm happy overall with the diesel mpg it does 24 mpg towing our twin axle caravan and 35 mpg mixed driving solo. Another reason I went for Q7 over Q5 or Tuareg was because it has all aluminium panels so should never get any rust around the edges. I love the LED lighting as well as standard from 2010 and newer. All in all a great car, no regrets but make sure you get a clean one and all the electrical are working.
